Privacy Policy
Last updated May 20, 2026. Your privacy is part of why ChurchAtlas exists.
ChurchAtlas ("ChurchAtlas," "we," "us") was built on a simple promise: help people find community without surveilling them. This policy explains what we collect, what we don't, and what we do with it.
What we don't do
We want to be clear up front. We do not:
- Sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
- Use third-party advertising trackers, fingerprinting, or analytics like Google Analytics.
- Place tracking pixels or build advertising profiles about you.
- Track you across other apps or websites.
Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the directory:
- Account information — your email address, and a securely hashed password (or a Google sign-in identifier if you use Google). We never store your password in plain text.
- Church & gathering listings — the information you choose to publish: church name, address, denomination, contact details, descriptions, gathering times, and any leader or contact info you add.
- Messages & requests — if you contact a church or request to join a gathering, the message and basic details needed to deliver it.
- Minimal technical data — basic server logs (such as request times and error information) needed to keep the service secure and working. We keep these brief and do not use them to profile you.
How we use it
- To operate the directory — show listings, power search, and connect people with churches.
- To verify churches and keep the platform trustworthy and safe.
- To send essential account and service messages (for example, email verification, password resets, or a note that your listing is live).
- To respond to your questions, reports, and requests.
What's public
Church listings and any gatherings you mark public are visible to anyone using ChurchAtlas — that's the whole point of a directory. Please don't publish information you wouldn't want to be public. Gatherings you set to private, invite-only, or restricted visibility are handled accordingly.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We share information only with the trusted service providers that make ChurchAtlas run — for example, our hosting provider, our email-delivery provider, and our content-delivery network — and only to the extent they need it to provide their service to us. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of people using the platform.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account or listing is active, and as needed to provide the service. When you delete your listing or account, we remove the associated data, except where we must keep limited records to comply with the law or resolve disputes.
Your rights & choices
You can review and update your listing at any time from your dashboard, and you can delete your listing and account from your settings. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information, email us at christian.gzmn1@gmail.com.
Children
ChurchAtlas is intended for adults (18 and older). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including password hashing and encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to limit what we collect in the first place.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll revise the "last updated" date above and, for material changes, may notify you or ask you to review it.
